INSTALLATION

The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit is very simply to install and involves 3 basic steps.

1. Attaching the Watermaid Power Supply to the wall (via the wall bracket provided) within 1.5m or 5ft of the electrical mains supply or power point outlet (110 VAC 60Hz or 220VAC - 250VAC 50 or 60Hz).

2. Immersing the electrolytic cells into the pond water of the cooling tower.

3. Plugging the Watermaid Power Supply into the Electrical Power Point and turning the unit on !

Please Note:
In some countries, hard wiring the power cord into the electrical supply may be necessary or needed to comply with local electricity regulations.

ELECTRO-CHEMICAL CHLORINATION FOR COOLING TOWERS

REQUIREMENTS

In general, the Watermaid Water Treatment Unit is suitable for use on all cooling towers.

One Watermaid Water Treatment Unit is designed for each cooling tower and has the capacity of producing up to 30 grams / hour of 100% available chlorine.
(for more information, see the production table located on "Chlorine Production" page.)

A requirement for the Watermaid Water Treatment Unit to operate effectively, is that there is a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) reading, greater than 500ppm. This allows the Watermaid unit to electrolyze the chloride ions in the water and convert them to 100% available chlorine, a powerful and decisive biocide.

The units may work on very high TDS values however most cooling towers are set with a bleed rate and incoming makeup water level that limits the cycles of concentration and the TDS value so that it does not normally exceed 1500ppm.

This is the ideal range (500ppm - 1500ppm) for the Watermaid Water Treatment Unit to operate effectively and efficiently.

If the Watermaid Unit is to be operated on a cooling tower that normally has a TDS value that is less than 500ppm, consultation with Watermaid will determine the specific requirements of the cooling tower and we will manufacture a unit to suit the conditions of the cooling tower. Generally this will simply involve adding more electrolytic cells to the cooling tower and attaching them to the power supply.
CHLORINE PRODUCTION

One Watermaid Water Treatment Unit is capable of manufacturing up to
720 Grams of 100% Available Chlorine per day.

The following tables shows the maximum chlorine production rate for one Watermaid Water Treatment Unit operating per hour, per day and per week.

Liquid Chlorine (12.5% available chlorine) and Granular Chlorine (65% available chlorine) equivilant production rates and values are also shown in the table.

The cost of manufacturing 100% available chlorine "on-site" via the Watermaid electro-chemical chlorination system is approximately 1/6th the cost of purchasing the cheapest chlorine biocide.

The Watermaid Water Treatment Unit uses approximately 480 Watts of Power.
(assuming the unit is operating at maximum capacity)

Values are given in both Metric and US units.
